FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Harrisburg – The Forward Party celebrates today achieving ballot access for its statewide candidates for the general election on November 5th—Eric Settle of Montgomery County for Attorney General, and Chris Foster of Allegheny County for Treasurer. While other candidates and parties saw their petitions challenged in court, the overwhelming number of Pennsylvanians who signed petitions to get Settle and Foster on the November ballot precluded such challenges from affecting their candidacies.
About Settle’s campaign for AG, National Forward Party co-Chair Andrew Yang said:
Partisanship is approaching pre-Civil War levels, and our upcoming election is likely to inflame these feelings even further. While Forward isn’t getting involved in the presidential race, we find it key to our mission to advance candidates for down ballot races that can stand above this fray and serve their communities.
That is why I am excited to have Eric Settle representing Forward on the ballot this November. It is critical that Pennsylvania’s chief legal and law enforcement officer stand above this fray, interested only in the rule of the law and people of the Commonwealth, not fighting for partisan aims that leave Pennsylvanians behind.
About Foster’s campaign for Treasurer, Forward Co-Chair Governor Christie Todd Whitman said:
Keeping track of the people’s money fully and fairly so that the people can be certain it is being spent to improve their communities is the Treasurer’s job, but the Republicans and Democrats keep turning this office into a political football. A truly independent Treasurer is what Pennsylvania deserves, and they will have that in Chris Foster.
I was on the ground collecting signatures in Pennsylvania, and it is obvious the people are ready for new and better options. I couldn’t be more excited to be a part of a movement that’s working to give those choices to American voters.
About the campaign ahead, Settle commented:
As a veteran attorney with experience at the highest levels of state government, I’ve seen how the legacy parties are more interested in advancing their own interests than those of the people, and I know that we can do better. That’s the goal of the Forward Party—to ensure the people are truly represented in government. Voting for me along with Chris Foster for Treasurer, the people of Pennsylvania will send a powerful message that these officers in state government should be neutral umpires, calling balls and strikes, not out there calling the game for partisan ends.
And when we clear the hurdle of 2% of the vote, the people will have changed the game itself going forward by giving the Forward Party official minor party status under PA election law. With this, we will be able to run candidates for offices such as Philly DA, and other vital local offices across the Commonwealth.
National Forward CEO Lindsey Drath said, “I can’t thank enough the many volunteers and donors, all across Pennsylvania, who made it possible for Eric and Chris to collect the necessary signatures to get on the ballot. In the end, they submitted substantially more signatures than legally required and heard directly from many thousands of voters that they want more and better choices than are being offered by the Republicans and Democrats.”
The Forward Party is bringing moderates, conservatives, and progressives together to heal our political divisions, find our shared ground, and create a brighter future for America. Forward Party candidates are accountable to the voters, and they will focus on solutions, not partisan fighting, in order to serve their constituents better. https://www.forwardparty.com
