In a democracy, our preferred candidates do not always win. Accepting defeat, however, is essential for a democracy to work. How a candidate handles defeat shows what type of person they are. In his loss, Ilya Breyman has shown class and dignity. He declined to engage in negative campaigning, instead focusing on a positive message of democracy reform.
