New Florida Bill Would Shut Down Better Elections Statewide

The Florida legislature has just passed a bill with a hidden provision that would ban Ranked-Choice Voting.  Hidden deep within the 45 pages of SB 524 is a single sentence with an awful impact on elections across the state.

That single sentence bans Ranked-Choice Voting in every town, city and county (like Sarasota) in Florida. This top-down measure eliminates local citizens’ ability to govern themselves: it bans Ranked-Choice Voting in towns and cities, even if they have already chosen to use it themselves.

If you’re unfamiliar with Ranked-Choice Voting, read this quick summary about how it helps election results more closely reflect the will of the voters. Otherwise, use the tool below to tell Governor DeSantis not to ban Ranked-Choice Voting. Save Florida elections today!
