The Forward Party today announced its endorsement of Democratic candidate David Jolly, who is running for Governor of Florida in the November general election, continuing the party’s commitment to supporting candidates who prioritize practical solutions and service to voters over partisan fighting. A former Member of Congress, Jolly brings a record of public service and an independent-minded approach to a race focused on the state’s broad affordability challenges.

David Jolly – Governor of Florida
Jolly is a fifth-generation Floridian and attorney who represented Florida’s 13th Congressional District in the U.S. House of Representatives from 2014 to 2017. Before serving in Congress, he worked on the staff of the late Rep. C.W. Bill Young and later practiced law. He holds a bachelor’s degree from Emory University and a law degree from George Mason University.
Jolly’s campaign for Governor is built around three priorities: reforming Florida’s homeowner’s insurance market, expanding access to primary healthcare services and investing in community public schools. He believes everyone deserves access to work, wages and wealth, with rights protected and dignity celebrated regardless of background.
This endorsement reflects the Forward Party’s continued cross-partisan candidate strategy, through which the party supports candidates regardless of affiliation whose approach to governing aligns with its principles of representation and service to voters rather than partisan interests. Jolly’s own political journey, from Republican member of Congress to Democratic gubernatorial nominee, underscores the kind of independent thinking Forward believes voters are looking for in their leaders.
