Washington D.C.–
The Forward Party announced today its endorsement of Republican candidate Elizabeth Dionne, who is running for Massachusetts State Treasurer in the November general election, continuing the party’s commitment to supporting candidates from across the political spectrum who lead with integrity, fiscal responsibility and a willingness to put voters ahead of party interests.

A ten-year veteran of local office, Dionne previously chaired the Belmont Select Board, bringing a rare combination of legal, educational and public-sector experience to her campaign for one of the most important offices in Massachusetts state government.
“Elizabeth Dionne embodies exactly the kind of leadership Forward is built to support: a proven reformer who has shown, term after term, that she can find bipartisan common ground and deliver real results for taxpayers. Her record in Belmont, and her pledges around transparency and accountability as Treasurer, reflect a commitment to the rule of law, a balanced approach in governance and respect for constituent interests. We’re proud to stand behind Dionne.”

Elizabeth Dionne – Massachusetts State Treasurer Candidate
Dionne is an attorney, educator and mother of four who has spent the past decade in Belmont town government, including service on Town Meeting, the Warrant (Finance) Committee and as Chair of the Community Preservation Committee, in addition to her role on the Select Board. As Select Board Chair, she led a series of bipartisan financial reforms: moving Belmont to revenue-based budgeting, balancing the town’s budget without drawing on reserve funds and creating a Multi-Year Budget Advisory Committee to strengthen long-term planning. She also worked collaboratively to shift Belmont’s Treasurer and Board of Assessors from elected to appointed, professional positions, led zoning reforms to encourage business development and successfully moved the town’s entire retirement system into the state-run Pension Reserves Investment Trust, improving returns while lowering costs.
Dionne holds a B.A. in political science from Wellesley College, an M.Phil. in political theory from Cambridge University as a Marshall Scholar, a J.D. from Stanford Law School, and an M.A. in political science from Boston College. She practiced law as an associate at Goodwin Procter and Testa Hurwitz & Thibeault, focusing on commercial real estate and venture capital, and has taught constitutional law and political science at both Wellesley and Boston College.
Dionne has devoted significant time to community and public service beyond elected office, including extensive pro bono legal work with Massachusetts Advocates for Children supporting low-income families with special-needs children — work informed in part by her own experience raising an autistic son. She lives in Belmont with her husband, Keith and their four children.
As a candidate for State Treasurer, Dionne has pledged to bring the same reform-minded, taxpayer-first approach to Beacon Hill that defined her tenure in Belmont. She has committed to ordering an independent audit of the Treasury’s departments on day one, hiring staff based on merit rather than political connections, refusing any campaign or inauguration donations from industries regulated by the Treasurer’s office and serving no more than two terms in the role.
This endorsement reflects the Forward Party’s continued strategy of supporting qualified candidates — Democrats, Republicans and independents alike — who demonstrate a record of practical, nonpartisan leadership and a willingness to hold their own party accountable when it serves the public interest. Dionne’s platform, built around transparency, fiscal discipline and rejecting patronage, reflects the kind of accountable governance Forward believes voters across the political spectrum are hungry for.
Dionne is running as the Republican nominee for Massachusetts State Treasurer in the general election, taking place on November 3, 2026.
